This page has links to some tutorials I have written for language documentarians. You can also find some helpful scripts on my Github page.
"Getting Started with ELAN", a total beginner's guide to opening files, segmenting, and annotating in ELAN. This guide was designed with undergraduate research assistants in mind, but also appropriate for undergraduate or graduate level field methods courses. I have also made a sample ELAN template file that can be used to create .eaf files that are exportable as FLEx .flextext files.
"Some tips and tricks for using ELAN", a more advanced guide for users already familiar with the basics of ELAN. This guide also provides tutorials and guidance for imports and exports to and from FLEx and Praat.
"Preparing data for open access, a tutorial for using Adobe Premiere Pro to blur faces of non-participating individuals in video and redact portions of audio using unobtrusive Brownian noise using Audacity. These are small edits that can be made to documentary materials to make sure no sensitive information is shared in open access materials, while maximizing the quantity of data that can be made unrestricted.
